Ahh, where do I begin? Authenticity. Permission. REAL expression. They’re often whittled down or wholly absent from our lives because we’re so attuned to the cues in our external environment: “Maybe I should dress this way so these people will accept me. I should probably talk like this so I can belong to that (cool) circle. I wonder if they’ll like me more if I act just like them?” It’s all such a waste of time!
The courage to stand apart, to follow your own voice, to BE YOUR OWN person, is something we all need to grab in great big fistfuls. No one’s going to give us their blessing to be our true selves. We have to do it for ourselves, for us. Because it’s liberating. Because we need to. Because we have the right to dare and the light to shine brighter than the stars in the sky and the fire to burn baby burn.

Oh, I just realised I forgot to share what gives me permission to be myself! Writing my truth. Living it. Having a safe space to bare my heart’s expression with the people I love and trust. Matching my behaviour to my intuition. Dancing in the flow of my core even if I’m the only one hearing the music, LOL.

      • Premakarini says:

I know that for me living my passions: giving myself permission to do only what I adore, has totally changed the game, too. Thanks for mentioning this: powerful!

    • Premakarini says:

SO SO true! well said! AMEN!! thank you for saying: “It takes courage to stand apart, to follow your own voice, to be your own person” I think just saying these words empowers. And you are so right in saying that we are looking for external cues instead of taking the time to explore who we WANT to be more than anything – or anyone – else. I think that the moment we REALIZE this, everything changes.
      Otiti! Thank you so!

  2. Jessie Jess says:

Otiti thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! Real expression can be a constant struggle for individuals. We hope we can shed some light on this and get the conversation started. Your thoughts are very inspiring!

Oh wow, thank you! You inspired me too. I believe inspiration begets inspiration, LOL. Premakarini and I were wondering how to get more voices to open up and share their experiences on here, so I’m just doing what I can to encourage everyone out there. :)

Authentic expression:I wonder what makes it hardest? Social pressure to fit in or is it a simple lack of awareness of what is possible? Always trying to figure this out so I can share more helpful ideas + information.

  2. Premakarini says:

So excited to see what conversation ripples this starts Otiti!
This really resonates with me right now + is so my experience:
“speak your truth. Always. Be true to your heart and say what you feel, what you believe, what you desire. Say what you need. So many of us wait for others’ permission before we do what we know we need to, and I’m here to tell you that’s a total waste of time. Be real, honest, present. Here and now. There’s no better time to act and turn things around or take them to the next level.”
What makes this so powerful is that you embody these words..I am so grateful that we are sharing in all of this. Thank you for sharing so much in this post
    love you,
    Prema
