I love this. Have you read “A Place of Yes” by Bethenny Frankel? Sometimes the power of yes is indescribable – it can make someone’s day, it can free us from the rut mentality, it can cause us to do things we may have otherwise resisted. So true. And sometimes the power of yes is saying no. I think the power is in knowing the difference in what we should say yes to that grows & matures us. We have to learn what things may be uncomfortable for us, but we know will propel us forward, regardless. And say yes. Then we have to learn the things to say no to – the things that we know will deplete us, take our energy, and deprive us. Yes is not being a “yes man” in my opinion. It’s creating home – the place you always go back to, your morals, your values, your growth point inside. Yes is the place you are able to make great decisions from and take risks safely because it’s home – it’s who you are. Sometimes no is the best place of yes. Love this blog!

  2. Premakarini says:

    Tamisha!
Thank you for sharing such powerful insights. Yes, it is important to know what to say no to, and that is one of the things I love about having this focus: it increases awareness so its easy to see what is of real value and how to follow what energizes you and brings clarity. I love this insight that you share: ” It’s creating home – the place you always go back to, your morals, your values, your growth point inside. Yes is the place you are able to make great decisions from and take risks safely because it’s home – it’s who you are. Sometimes no is the best place of yes.” So beautiful and true. I haven’t read that book, but you know what I am going to check it out. Its great to see you here. Make this blog your home – feel free to add anything at any time.

  1. Otiti says:

Ahh, where do I begin? Authenticity. Permission. REAL expression. They’re often whittled down or wholly absent from our lives because we’re so attuned to the cues in our external environment: “Maybe I should dress this way so these people will accept me. I should probably talk like this so I can belong to that (cool) circle. I wonder if they’ll like me more if I act just like them?” It’s all such a waste of time!
The courage to stand apart, to follow your own voice, to BE YOUR OWN person, is something we all need to grab in great big fistfuls. No one’s going to give us their blessing to be our true selves. We have to do it for ourselves, for us. Because it’s liberating. Because we need to. Because we have the right to dare and the light to shine brighter than the stars in the sky and the fire to burn baby burn.

  2. Jessie Jess says:

Otiti thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! Real expression can be a constant struggle for individuals. We hope we can shed some light on this and get the conversation started. Your thoughts are very inspiring!

  3. Otiti says:

Oh, I just realised I forgot to share what gives me permission to be myself! Writing my truth. Living it. Having a safe space to bare my heart’s expression with the people I love and trust. Matching my behaviour to my intuition. Dancing in the flow of my core even if I’m the only one hearing the music, LOL.

  4. Otiti says:

Oh wow, thank you! You inspired me too. I believe inspiration begets inspiration, LOL. Premakarini and I were wondering how to get more voices to open up and share their experiences on here, so I’m just doing what I can to encourage everyone out there. 🙂

  5. Premakarini says:

Thank you so much for being a part of this, Otiti! Isn’t it powerful to do this?! And fun! I so appreciate all that you add, always! xo

  6. Premakarini says:

I know that for me living my passions: giving myself permission to do only what I adore, has totally changed the game, too. Thanks for mentioning this: powerful!

  7. Premakarini says:

Authentic expression:I wonder what makes it hardest? Social pressure to fit in or is it a simple lack of awareness of what is possible? Always trying to figure this out so I can share more helpful ideas + information.

  8. Premakarini says:

SO SO true! well said! AMEN!! thank you for saying: “It takes courage to stand apart, to follow your own voice, to be your own person” I think just saying these words empowers. And you are so right in saying that we are looking for external cues instead of taking the time to explore who we WANT to be more than anything – or anyone – else. I think that the moment we REALIZE this, everything changes.
    Otiti! Thank you so!

  1. Dyamond says:

This is POWERFUL! Definitely an eye-opener. I’ve noticed that the more in tune I am with my emotions, the stronger the pain feels too. And I didn’t think of it (until now) that I’m just becoming more in tune with my being, but that I wasn’t in tune with myself at all. 🙂 Love you!

  2. Otiti says:

YES!!! Yes yes yes!! Our emotions are who we are and there’s nothing wrong with actually being able to FEEL so intensely or deeply; it just shows that we truly are alive. Whatever happens TO us isn’t as important + powerful as what happens FOR us. I think we get so caught up in trying not to feel negative emotions that we forget they’re part and parcel of life and learning. Thank you so much for sharing your wise words, and I’m thrilled my post sparked a fuse in your heart! 😀 It’s all about authentic expression, innit? I love you and I know you’ll get through this. Hugs!

  3. Thank you for sharing your beautiful words, insights & perceptions with such love & tenderness. I have been healing some deep wounds within over the past week and your thoughts are helping to shine light into the shadow spaces within myself. Thank you so much for all that you are! So magnificent. <3

For me love is tolerance. The acceptance of the fact that the partner can have different opinion about something. and that she or he will not necessarily like to do everything with us.

  2. Premakarini says:

So excited to see what conversation ripples this starts Otiti!
This really resonates with me right now + is so my experience:
“speak your truth. Always. Be true to your heart and say what you feel, what you believe, what you desire. Say what you need. So many of us wait for others’ permission before we do what we know we need to, and I’m here to tell you that’s a total waste of time. Be real, honest, present. Here and now. There’s no better time to act and turn things around or take them to the next level.”
What makes this so powerful is that you embody these words..I am so grateful that we are sharing in all of this. Thank you for sharing so much in this post
    love you,
    Prema

  1. Otiti says:

YES. I’m excited about this! It’s so important to love who you are and how you look. If you don’t love it, change it!! But I guess the more important question is, WHY wouldn’t you love your body? Societal perception? An unhealthy emphasis on the “perfect” figure? This is something I struggle with sometimes so it’s a big deal for me. I know I’m not the only one. Thank you, Nichole and Premakarini, for this beautiful reminder to love ourselves inside and out. 🙂

  2. Deborah says:

Whenever I fall in love with someone healthy for me, I lose weight. Naturally. It just disappears without any effort at all. Then it comes back when I am alone. And if I connect with someone who is unhealthy for me, I gain even more weight than usual. I want to learn how to love myself so much that I lose the weight naturally myself. How can I love myself this much? My first response to myself is to practice. And I do, but I feel like I must be missing something….. I do not want to need someone else to find me lovable to feel lovable, but sometimes I do. This has been a part of my conscious process for at least 10 years now & I am really ready to see what I need to do to make this shift.

I am deeply grateful for this blog post to open this beautiful journey for all of us. I plan to join you for future posts to see where we all can go together. So beautiful to share with you!

    Love,
    D~

  3. Premakarini says:

    Deborah!
Thank you for adding so much to this conversation!
So happy that you shared your experience of how your weight varies. This is so common, and has been my experience too, and I suspect many are awakening now to this realization. Relationships are such a mirror for us, its hard not to be affected by them. My intention for this blog series is to explore this in more depth and empower us to experience being in love with or without a significant other, and regardless of where we are at physically. In my experience when we consciously do this, then our relationships cannot help but be amazing as they are truly meant to be: mirroring back to us this level of love.
I know that Nichole has experienced much success in helping women to feel good now, even if they not at their ideal weight or fitness level, and just as you experienced: the weight disappears naturally. Recently I have made a pact with myself to love my body no matter what: extra weight and all + the same thing is happening + guess what my guy keeps telling me I have never looked better! What I am seeing is when we love consciously anything is possible. Its time to really explore just what we can really do!
So happy that you are here.
    Love,
    Premakarini xo

  4. Premakarini says:

    You share some powerful points. We have all struggled with this. There is immense societal pressure on us to achieve some unnatural image that is held up as ideal, and even though we know all too well that these are only digitally possible, we are still affected to some degree. For years I tried to attain this, and even when I was at that weight all I heard was “You need to gain weight. You looked better before.” You can’t win. What I am learning these days is the more you focus on love, you come into a natural balance with life + this shows through your body immediately. The body is a great mirror for how we really feel about ourselves + our life. Love catalyzes powerful transformation both inside + out: you can have the health + appearance that you want, that this is actually how it’s supposed to be, but you have to start with love first, instead of trying to force the body to look at certain way through external means {trust me: I have tried, it doesn’t work! lol!}

  5. You totally hit the nail on the head Otiti. It has so much to do with the under lying issue…why don’t you feel you are worthy enough of your love!

Society has so much to do with it.

Premakarini and I will be sure to discuss this! 🙂

  6. Deborah, first off you need to give yourself a HUGE hug for even being willing to see this reality.

So many women go through life feeling this exact same way but never actually see it in this hind sight perspective (because, well…it hurts). This is truly the first step to changing it. Awareness is KEY!

The tools from here are the easy part ;). Thanks so much for bringing this up, we will be sure to address this soon!
